Crop Year 2021
September 7, 2021

This spring of 2021 the Mattson Farm completed seeding the spring crops of Flax, Chickpeas, Lentils and Spring Wheat on May 1, 2021. There was limited amount of moisture in the ground from Fall of 2020. This past winter will be remembered as being very mild, windy, and lacking in snowfall. Optimism faded as very few spring rains developed. Much of Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota have experienced historical drought throughout the 2021growing season. As we prepare for harvest we realize we are fortunate to have anything to harvest at all given the small amount of moisture that materialized this season. Preparations for the harvest are the same no matter what the crop yield will be.
